March 2013 - Construction Progress

With Spring on the way and warmer weather just around the corner (hopefully), The Leadenhall Building team have been busy this month.

So what’s been going on?

The main steelwork frame and precast floor planks are now complete up to and including the 39th floor.

The strongbox – the part of the structure that provides the main stability – is progressing between level 40 – 47.

On the North side of the building the yellow steelwork tables have been installed to Level 41 and the steelwork that forms the lift-shafts is complete up to level 33.

The glazing operations are becoming ever evident on the outside of the building. There is a vast amount of glass being used for the building due to the office having two skins of glass with a maintenance walkway between them. The main office area is now complete between levels 5-11 and is in progress between levels 12-19. Glazing on the North core has reached level 12.

And finally, this month work has started on the lift installation in the North core.

Looking Forward

From street level, the glazing works will continue to be the most visible operation over the coming months. The main office glazing will progress to level 19 and the North Core glazing will reach Level 19.

At the top of the building the steelwork will soon reach the attic levels where key sections of plant are housed.

We will be expecting the first lift car deliveries this month and main high voltage power will be switched on for the building.
